The Purpose of this Doacument is to Propose Amendments to the Handbook of the Klingon Legion of Assault Warriors

The Purpose of this Document is to Propose Amendments to the Handbook of the Klingon Legion of Assault Warriors, from here on to be Known as K.L.A.W., in order to Support and Facilitate the inclusion of an Additional Branch of Service to Be Known as Clergy.

The Function of the Clergy Branch of K.L.A.W. Shall be as follows:

a) The Addition of a Clergy Branch of Service in Role-play terms Shall be a Platform from Which Star Trek Fans can Recreate and Expand upon the Priesthood of Kahless as Portrayed in the Various Star Trek Television Series, Books and Films.

Chapters within K.L.A.W. belonging to the Clergy Branch of Service, shall be designated by Titles

often associated with Real World Religious Institutions. This in no way bestows upon those Chapters any Real World Analog where a Tax Free Status or any other Legal Rights or Privileges would be Afforded to Those Organizations. There are Very Real Methods by which these Organizations Achieve these Rights and Privileges and K.L.A.W. as a Star Trek Based Fan Club Does NOT have the Legal Authority to Bestow Such a Status upon a Chapter.

K.L.A.W. is NOT a Religious Organization, and in no way directly or indirectly will it Condone or Hold

in Reproach Any Real World Religious Order. The Denomination and Religious Beliefs, Faith or Absence Thereof of the Members of K.L.A.W. as a Whole, are Strictly the Personal Preferences of Each of those Members. And in NO way shall K.L.A.W. as an Organization Nor any of Its Members Associated with The Clergy Branch of Service, Seek to Press their Personal Real World Beliefs upon any Person in the Name of K.L.A.W.

Failure to Adhere to ANY of these Strictures may be Grounds for Ejection from K.L.A.W. Subject to

the Rules Set out in the K.L.A.W. Handbook.

SECTION 3.0.....LEGION STRUCTURE

KLAW derives its organizational structure from Star Trek's representation of the Imperial Klingon military. A military chain of command is necessary for the administration and control of the Legion.

The chain of command for KLAW is as follows:
     Legion Commander
     Members of the Legion Staff
     Council of Lords (as a whole)
     Vessel/Post Commanders
     Individual Members

LEGION STAFF STRUCTURE - Positions and minimum ranks upon entering a Legion Staff position. The Legion Staff shall consist of the following personnel:

SECTION 3.1.....LEGION STAFF OFFICER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Add Spiritual Advisor to the Legion.

    1. The Spiritual Advisor to the Legion reports to the Legion Commander.

    2. Functions as a Representative of the Priesthood of Kahless for KLAW.

    3. Offers Advice and Guidance to The Legion Staff and to the General membership of K.L.A.W. Where matters of the Teachings of Kahless are Indicated.

    4. Shall Provide Assistance and Advice to Chapters and Members of the Clergy Branch of Service within K.L.A.W. on Matters of Propriety where appropriate.

    5. During Legion Staff Meetings the Spiritual Advisor to the Legion shall offer Advice to the Legion Staff and Fairly represent the Clergy Branch of Service of K.L.A.W. But Shall Not have a Vote on Any Issue to which the Legion Staff may be Voting.

*NOTE: The Spiritual Advisor to the Legion Shall not Dictate to any Chapter or Member any Real World Belief Systems or Faith Based Advice except where asked to do so.

Minimum Requirements for the Position of Legion Security Officer:

    1. Must submit a WRITTEN NOTICE OF QUALIFICATION to the Legion Staff,
listing the qualification's) for the position. This will be published in THE PILLAGE VOICE.

    2. Must be a member in good standing and currently on active duty status.

SECTION 5.0.....CHAPTER STRUCTURE

Add Special Descriptions of Chapter Structure For Chapters Designated as being of the Clergy Branch of Service to K.L.A.W.

SECTION 5.2.....DEPARTMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Add Clergy

1. Act as Spiritual Advisor to the Commander and Crew of the Chapter. (Except in the Case of a Chapter Designated as being Clerical).

2. Oversee or perform Role-play Ceremonies as appropriate.

3. Maintain Historical Records of the Chapter within the Confines of the Priestly Domain and Report The Chapters Spiritual Status to the Spiritual Advisor to the Legion.

Proposed Change to Section 5.3

SECTION 5.3.....VESSEL DEPLOYMENT LEVELS

Those Chapters Designated as Being of the Clergy or Diplomatic Branches of Service Shall Use the Following Chapter Descriptions in Place of the Traditional Marine and Naval Designations in Title Only, in all other ways these Chapters will follow Traditional Marine and Naval Descriptions and Requirements with regard to Vessel Promotions as Outlined in Section 5.3.

It should also be Noted that Starting At Deployment Level 2 Both Clerical and Diplomatic Chapters are Assigned an Auxiliary Vessel Two Deployment Levels Below the Chapters Deployment Level. This Vessel is Normally Commanded by Non-Clerical Staff of Appropriate Rank to Command the Vessel in Question. These Ships are Considered to be a Part of the Chapter and are NOT Independent Chapters unto themselves, Nor do they Gain a Place on the Council of Lords or additional Votes on the Council for their Parent Chapter. The Purpose of these Auxiliary Vessels is Primarily for Role-play and is meant to reflect the Needs of Higher Ranking Clergy or KDC Chapters to have independent Transports.

Proposed Addition of Section 6.1

Section 6.1………Clergy.

The Clerical Branch of K.L.A.W. is meant to serve as a Platform from which Members wishing to portray the Priestly aspect of the Klingon Religion which Honors the Emperor Kahless as its Spiritual Leader, may do so in a Defined and Legitimized manor. There is No Direct Analog Implied or Intended to any Particular Real World Religious Belief System. The Religious Beliefs or Absence thereof within the General Membership of K.L.A.W. shall be respected by the Clergy without Prejudice.

SECTION 7.0.....RANK INSIGNIA

KLAW uses some of the rank titles found in other Klingon organizations, and some designs found in "The Klingons" game supplements as published by the FASA Corporation, as well as Some Rank Insignia Created Specifically for K.L.A.W. by its Members.
